Characteristics of Adult Learners: Knowles
Irrespective of my research angle a common term I stumble over is ‘listen’. Adults have experience, use it. “Incorporate their themes” says Richard C. Lumb Ph.D. Until now, the course I have been developing has been based around my thoughts, my experience and then backed up by my companies needs. It is a safety critical course which should of course be predominantly ‘built’ by the topical experts but why shouldn’t the learners have input? What do THEY want to learn? After all, they have chosen to be here and learning should be exciting.
